B had the procedure for the PD catheter this morning. Everything went swimmingly.
While he was still numb/knocked out from the anesthesia, they also removed the emergency port they put in and replaced it with a longer lasting one. He’ll be using this one for the hemodialysis he’ll get while the catheter is healing.
Speaking of which, the hemodialysis schedule will be Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 6:30am. I have a feeling he will be a cranky guy on those days as that’s a bit early for him.
That said, it looks like he will be released sometime tomorrow if all goes well. He is going to get one last round of dialysis here tomorrow and if everything looks ok, we can go home.
Now, for his family members who may be wondering about how he did with the anesthesia, they are treating him as though he has malignant hyperthermia. He has not been tested for it, but the hospital and his doctors are all aware there is a family history.
All in all, everything is looking up!
Our next big task when he gets home will be to start getting the paperwork together for immigration. That’s right, it’s time for us to venture back into that and “remove conditions” on his green card. Fun times!
