Cheers to 2017

2016 was quite the year for us. We had good times, mediocre times, happy times and terrifying times. We had a few major events happen this past year – we bought a house! Yep, we became homeowners the day after my 35th birthday and we spent the better part of the summer working on it. The only major thing we have left to do is putting a floor into what is now B’s medical supply closet, aka my former/eventual craft/guest room. This year we also found out about B’s kidney function, or lack thereof. Since October, we’ve been playing catch up. But things are really starting to look up. B’s on dialysis and we are starting the process for transplant evaluation. Did I mention…

He Made It

And it’s now official, B’s a Floridian. Well, not quite, but he finally made it after crossing the border on Jan 3rd. States he traveled through: Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida. Now we will see if he can actually put up with me, and cook.

Goodbye 2013

When I usually look back on the year, I typically see the bad things, the regrets, the sadness and wondering how in the hell I had spent my time. 2013 proved to be quite different. I did have the bad things and sadness; my uncle committing suicide, my grandmother’s cancer returning, packing up the house in Georgia, my aunt dying. All bad and sad things. But it was finally the year that I decided to live my life for me and work out some of my issues. Looking back, change was my theme. I attempted to change my outlook on quite a few things, including marriage. Most people who know me know that I have issues with the “m” word. Big issues. So much…

A whole lotta stuff

Well, it’s been a while since I’ve posted here. Mainly due to time constraints combined with a bit of laziness on my part. Also, lots of things have been going on: The end of May saw the 12 year anniversary of my brother’s death, helping my mom pack up her house and move the rest of my things to Florida, seeing my niece graduate high school. June was filled with getting the hang of my new job, aka getting thrown into the fire pits of busy season and not knowing, well anything, as well as a few family get-togethers. As a dual country couple going through the immigration process, planning in advance is something we pretty much have to do. From the biggies like the wedding, to the small things like a cell phone plan and about a million things in between, all of it has to be planned to an extent.
